William Quintana, 51, of Pottsville, Pennsylvania, was sentenced to 117 months in prison for drug trafficking and firearm offenses. The sentencing took place yesterday under United States District Court Judge Malachy E. Mannion.
United States Attorney Gerard M. Karam stated that Quintana had previously pleaded guilty to possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine and possession of firearms in furtherance of that offense. Quintana admitted that on September 29, 2022, within Schuylkill County, he knowingly possessed methamphetamine with the intent to distribute it and also possessed a Star 9mm pistol and a .380 caliber Diamondback pistol.
The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI), the Pottsville Police Department, the Schuylkill County Drug Task Force, and the Schuylkill County District Attorney’s Office. Assistant United States Attorney James M. Buchanan prosecuted the case.
This prosecution is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a program aimed at reducing violent crime and gun violence through collaboration between law enforcement agencies and community organizations. The Department launched an enhanced violent crime reduction strategy on May 26, 2021, emphasizing trust-building in communities, supporting preventive community-based initiatives, setting strategic enforcement priorities, and measuring outcomes.
