U.S. Representative Rob Bresnahan, Jr. (PA-08) announced that the Wilkes-Barre VA Medical Center will receive infrastructure upgrades as part of a national initiative by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). The improvements are intended to benefit veterans in Northeastern Pennsylvania by maintaining the facility’s safety and reliability.
“The Wilkes-Barre VA Medical Center is a vital resource for our district, serving veterans across our community,” said Rep. Bresnahan. “These upgrades will ensure the facility can continue providing the care our veterans deserve and give each of them the support and resources they need today and in the years ahead.”
“Under President Trump, VA is putting Veterans first, and this historic investment underscores that fact,” said VA Secretary Doug Collins. “Improved facilities, equipment and infrastructure mean better care for Veterans, and these funds will enable VA to achieve that goal.”
The funding comes from a $5 billion nationwide initiative focused on upgrading VA facilities throughout the country. For Northeastern Pennsylvania, these improvements include renovations to the 9th Floor Mental Health unit, boiler plant safety enhancements, repairs to the salt shed, replacement of fire doors, and garage upgrades.
The Wilkes-Barre VA Medical Center has been scheduled for these upgrades during Quarter 1 of Fiscal Year 2026.
