Wilkes-Barre, PA – Ahead of National Doctors’ Day on March 30, Wilkes-Barre General Hospital has chosen to express gratitude to its physicians by contributing $6,000 to Sleep In Heavenly Peace. This nonprofit organization focuses on providing beds, mattresses, and bedding to children in need.

National Doctors’ Day is a moment to acknowledge doctors’ dedication and service as they strive to enhance community health and well-being. It’s a time to honor their remarkable contributions, especially in trying circumstances.

For this year’s commemoration, the hospital’s physicians collectively decided that instead of receiving gifts, they would allocate the funds to a meaningful cause. After careful deliberation, they chose to support Sleep In Heavenly Peace, an organization committed to providing children with safe and comfortable sleeping arrangements.

Chris Howe, CEO of Commonwealth Health Wilkes-Barre General Hospital, stated, “We are deeply grateful for the dedication and service of our physicians, and we are thrilled that they have chosen to celebrate Doctors’ Day by making such a generous contribution to Sleep In Heavenly Peace.” Howe added, “This donation reflects the compassion that our doctors demonstrate every day, both in their professional care for patients and in their commitment to giving back to the community.”

Sleep In Heavenly Peace assists children aged 3 to 17 who face challenging living environments and often lack proper sleep accommodations. The donation will aid the nonprofit in its mission to provide local children with safe, comfortable beds.

National Doctors’ Day highlights the essential role physicians play in individual and community health. At Wilkes-Barre General Hospital, the day emphasizes not only the hospital’s dedication to patient care but also its support for organizations that positively impact the community.
