University of Scranton Athletics issued the following announcement on Mar. 31.

Following the conclusion of the winter sports season, The University of Scranton is ranked 51st in the most recent 2022 NCAA Division III LEARFIELD IMG College Directors’ Cup standings, which were released this week.

The LEARFIELD IMG College Directors’ Cup program honors institutions that maintain a broad-based athletics program, achieving success in many sports, both men’s and women’s. Now in its 27th year at the Division III level, the program awards points to institutions in a predetermined number of sports for men and women.

Scranton garnered 64 points during the winter season and has a total of 206.00 points for the year to lead all Landmark Conference schools. Susquehanna is the closest conference foe to the Royals as they are tied for 69th with 157.00 points.

Johns Hopkins leads the Directors’ Cup standings with 855.50 points.

The University of Scranton women’s basketball team captured a seventh straight Landmark championship this winter and advanced to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament with victories over New Jersey City and Babson.

For the 2021-22 season thus far, the Royals have seen four teams qualify for the NCAA Tournament in field hockey, volleyball, women’s basketball and women’s soccer with three (FH, WBB, WSOC) advancing to the Sweet 16.
