137 coaches at institutions in Lackawanna County earned $15,416 on average in 2022

Lackawanna County’s 137 coaches earned an average salary of $15,416 in 2022, according to the U.S. Department of Education.

This is the lowest average salary per county earned by coaches at Pennsylvania post-secondary schools during 2022.

Lackawanna County is home to four post-secondary schools that paid coaches during 2022. Among them, University of Scranton stood out with the highest average coaching salary of $25,919.

Male coaches of men's teams received $19,533 on average in Lackawanna County, while female coaches in charge of women's teams earned an average of $16,967.

Research from the Vanderbilt Owen Graduate School of Management found NCAA coaches are compensated like CEOs, with top coaches earning more than $1.5 million annually.
