The City of Scranton is proud to release our new Strategic Economic Development Plan. This plan will guide the City in growing industry, diversifying talent, developing community pride, creating affordable and quality housing, and improving infrastructure over the next ten years. A community based plan crafted with stakeholder input, the plan provides action steps, corresponding target timelines and metrics to gauge success.
The plan outlines numerous goals to reach by 2032, including closing the gap between Scranton’s median and livable wages, removing employment barriers, growing the tax base, increasing access to high-quality affordable housing and narrowing the income disparity between white and non-white residents. Additionally, improvements to quality of life, community pride initiatives, advocacy for equitable school funding, and reducing tax burdens are also key priorities in the plan.
