Six members of The University of Scranton women's lacrosse team were named to the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Division III Academic Honor Roll as announced by the organization on Wednesday afternoon.
To be eligible for this honor, student-athletes must be a junior, senior, or graduate student and have earned a cumulative academic GPA of 3.50 or greater. The IWLCA honored 1,099 student-athletes from 193 different institutions.
The six Royals that received the honor are as follows: senior Halle Conklin (Point Lookout, N.Y./Kellenberg Memorial), junior Caroline Miller (Huntington, N.Y./Elwood-John H. Glenn), senior Emily Schum (East Hanover, N.J./Morris Catholic), junior Maggie Smith (Glen Rock, N.J./Glen Rock), senior Amanda Whelan (Massapequa Park, N.Y./Massapequa) and senior Jennifer Williams (Branchburg, N.J./Somerville). Conklin held a 3.66 cumulative GPA as a Early & Primary Teacher Education major, Miller has a 3.85 GPA in Nursing, Schum had a 3.72 GPA also as a nursing major, while Smith has a 3.55 GPA in Kinesiology, Whelan had a 3.73 GPA in Exercise Science and Williams held a 3.55 GPA in Biology.
The Royals were also one of 398 programs across Division I, II, III and the NAIA to be named an IWLCA Academic Honor Squad. To qualify for this honor, the women's lacrosse team must have posted a 3.2 or higher team GPA for the academic year.
In 2021-22, Scranton held a 3.35 team GPA.
