Act 55 Provides Additional Year of Education for Certain Students

New legislation (Act 55) has taken effect in Pennsylvania in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Certain students with disabilities are able to sign up for another year at a school entity with their IEP services in place for the 2022-2023 school year. To qualify, students must fall into one of the following two categories:

  • The student turned 21 during the 2021-2022 school year
  • The student will turn 21 this summer before the start of the 2022-2023 school year

The deadline to apply is August 1, 2022. To apply, one must submit the form linked below to Dr. Donna Carey at dcarey@npsd.org.
