University of Scranton Athletics issued the following announcement on June 21.

The University of Scranton Athletic Department announced on Tuesday that head women's basketball coach Nick DiPillo has stepped down from the Lady Royals after three seasons to accept an Assistant Coach position at the University of Pittsburgh in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC).

During his three seasons at Scranton, DiPillo guided the program to a 58-8 record (.879) overall including a 32-3 record (.915) in Landmark Conference games as well as three consecutive Landmark Championships.

This past season, the Lady Royals defeated Catholic in the Landmark title game and advanced to the Sweet 16 with NCAA Tournament victories over New Jersey City and Babson in the John Long Center. Additionally, they also became the fourth program in Landmark history to post an unbeaten conference season at 14-0.

"While I am excited about what lies ahead, I'll always be thankful for my time at Scranton. The student-athletes, the administration and the people are what makes Scranton such a special place," DiPillo said. "I'm very proud of all the things we accomplished during my time here and I have no doubt that the tradition of excellence which was established long prior to my arrival, will continue moving forward."

In his three seasons, DiPillo mentored a trio of WBCA All-Americans in Abby Anderson (2022), Makenzie Mason (2020) and Bridget Monaghan (2021, 2022). The latter two also garnered Landmark Player of the Year accolades with Mason winning the award following the 2019-20 campaign and Monaghan in 2021.

All three also earned D3hoops.com All Mid-Atlantic Region First Team honors in their All-American seasons.

DiPillo heads to a Panthers program that went 11-19 during the 2021-22 campaign and fell to Duke in the ACC Tournament.

A national search to find DiPillo's replacement will begin immediately.
