issued the following announcement on June 2.

Deanna Kyle Klingman '85, a former standout from The University of Scranton women's basketball team, has been named as a member of the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Hall of Fame Class of 2022 as announced by the conference office on Thursday morning.

Klingman becomes the ninth individual from The University to be inducted into the MAC Hall of Fame and the first since Bill Bessoir (Class of 2019).

In order to be eligible for the MAC Hall of Fame, the individual must have competed in the MAC and also already be inducted into the school's Hall of Fame. Klingman was inducted into Scranton's Wall of Fame in 1994.

During her lone season with the Lady Royals, she earned 1985 Kodak National Player of the Year honors and led the program to a 31-1 record and the National Championship with a 68-59 victory over New Rochelle.

Klingman served as a team captain on the national title team and was also named to the NCAA Final Four All-Tournament Team along with the Kodak All-American team. During the 1984-85 campaign, she set single-season program records that still stand today for assists per game (8.1), steals per game (3.0) and total assists (242). Klingman averaged 18.1 points per game that season and her 91 steals are tied for fourth most in a single season in program history.

Prior to coming to Scranton, Klingman played one season at Wilkes where she earned both Kodak All-American and All-MAC First Team honors.

Currently, Klingman serves as the Head Girls' Basketball Coach at Abington Heights High School.

Other Scranton members of the MAC Hall of Fame include Deanna's husband, Steve Klingman (Class of 2016), Bob Bessoir (Class of 2012), Joe Bochicchio (Class of 2013), Mike Strong (Class of 2015), Irv Johnson (Class of 2017) and Cedric deSilva (Class of 2018).
