D3baseball all region 2022

University of Scranton Athletics issued the following announcement on  May 31.

Three members of The University of Scranton baseball team earned both American Baseball Coaches' Association (ABCA)/Rawlings and D3baseball.com All-Region honors as announced by the respective organizations on Tuesday.

Graduate student outfielder Connor Harding (Vestal, N.Y./Vestal) garnered First Team honors in Region V, while junior RHP Daniel Johnson (Whitehouse Station, N.J./Immaculata) and sophomore designated hitter Corey Zientek (Sugarloaf, Pa./Hazleton Area) nabbed Second Team accolades for both organizations.

Those student-athletes who have earned All-Region honors will now automatically be considered for the D3baseball.com All-American team, which is slated to be released tomorrow morning.

The 2022 ABCA/Rawlings All American team will be released on Thursday, June 2.

It is the second career All-Region selection for both Harding and Johnson to go along with the first of Zientek's career.

Harding hit .402 in 41 games for the Royals this season with four home runs, 38 RBI, 10 doubles, 18 stolen bases, 61 runs scored and 66 hits. The Vestal, N.Y., native led the Landmark Conference in runs scored and also ranked in the top five in hits (2nd), batting average (3rd) and stolen bases (3rd). Throughout the course of the 2022 campaign, Harding broke the program and conference's career records in hits (219) and runs scored (166).

As the Royals' everyday center fielder, he did not commit an error in 90 total chances.

Johnson put together another strong season on the mound as a member of Scranton's weekend rotation and ranked second in the Landmark in both wins (7) and ERA (2.88). The right-hander posted a 7-2 record in 12 appearances (11 starts) and fanned 51 batters over 56 1/3 IP. His seven victories on the season matched the program's single-season record that had been set by Bobby Della Polla in 2013.

In his first full season as a starter, Zientek led the team in batting average (.430), home runs (6), doubles (14) and stolen bases (23). He also tallied 65 hits including four triples and drove in 48 runs in 39 games, including 21 multi-hit games. On the Landmark Conference leaderboards, Zientek ranked second in both batting average and steals, while sitting third in both RBI and runs scored (52).

The trio helped lead the Royals to the No. 1 seed in the Landmark Conference Tournament and a single-season program record 28 victories.
