University of Scranton Athletics issued the following announcement on May 19.
Junior Noelle Gonzalez (Harrington Park, N.J./Northern Valley-Old Tappan) of The University of Scranton women's track and field and sophomore Tim Lanahan (Mendham, N.J./Mendham) of the men's track and field team both broke program records to lead the way for the Royals on the final day of competition at the AARTFC Championships that were hosted by Moravian University on Thursday.
Gonzalez finished fourth in the 400 meters with a program record time of 57.05 seconds, surpassing her previous best time of 58.39 seconds that she had set at the Landmark Conference Championships on May 8.
Lanahan took seventh in the 1500 meters in 3:54.65, eclipsing his previous personal best and program record time of 3:58.93 that was also set at the Landmark Championship meet. The Mendham, N.J., native also competed in the 800 meters on Thursday with a time of 1:57.82.
Rounding out the competitors for the Royals on Thursday was senior Meghan McGonigle (Mullica Hill, N.J./Gloucester Catholic) who was one of eight student-athletes to post a mark of 1.55m in the high jump.
