Track & Field Programs Set to Compete at Landmark Conference Championships

University of Scranton Athletics issued the following announcement on May 6.

The University of Scranton men's and women's track and field teams head to Juniata this weekend for the Landmark Conference Outdoor Championships on Saturday and Sunday.

Action will get underway at 1 PM on Saturday and 11 AM on Sunday at the Eagles' Oller Track at Knox Stadium.

Both teams were picked in the pre-championship polls that were conducted by the Landmark Conference and voted on by the league's coaches.

On the men's side, senior Shane McKeon (Royersford, Pa./Pope John Paul II) boats the second fastest time in the 3,000 steeplechase at 9:31.19 and also the fourth best time in the 5,000 meters in 15:14.77. Sophomore Timothy Lanahan (Mendham, N.J./Mendham) has posted the third fastest time in the conference in the 1500 meters (3:58.48) and junior Liam Mead (Montrose, Pa./Montrose) has the fifth best clip in the 10,000 meters (33:09.40).

In the field events, sophomore Kyle Muirhead (Massapequa Park, N.Y./St. Anthony's) holds the fifth best mark in the long jump at 6.47m.

Elsewhere for the Royals this spring, sophomore Shervin Mokhtari (Clarks Summit, Pa./Abington Heights) has broken program records in the 110 and 400 meter hurdles, while junior Nathan Bowen (Trumbull, Conn./Trumbull) has posted program record times in the 200 and 400 meters.

For the women's team, senior Jessica Hoffmann (Millington, N.J./Watchung Hills) has the fastest time in the 5,000 meters by more than 47 seconds and also has the second fastest time in the 1500 meters. Junior Noelle Gonzalez (Harrington Park, N.J./Northern Valley-Old Tappan) holds top five times in a pair of events as well, 400 meters (2nd, 59.04) and 200 meters (T-4th, 26.24), while senior Lindsay Notarianni (Scranton, Pa./Scranton Prep) holds the second fastest time in the 10,000 meters (39:39.05) and freshman Samantha Hoffmann (Millington, N.J./Watchung Hills) has the fifth fastest time in the 800 meters (2:20.41).

Junior Ashley Benham (Portland, Conn./Portland) also has the fifth fastest time in the 400 hurdles at 1:12.35.

The Royals are led in the field events by seniors Ally Maniscalco (Deer Park, N.Y./Deer Park) who is tied for the best mark in the poel vault at 3.05m and Meghan McGonigle (Mullica Hill, N.J./Gloucester Catholic) who has the second best mark in the high jump at 1.61m. Sophomore Alex Ferrador (Hazlet, N.J./Raritan) also possesses the third best mark in the shot put at 11.36m.
