Lackawanna County issued the following announcement on Mar. 13.
On March 5th, PJAS Region 2 held its virtual district competition. Students in grades 7-12 from the region had the opportunity to perform an experiment using the scientific method and present their findings to a board of judges. The students that win first place are invited to attend the state competition at Penn State Main Campus in May. Areas for experiments are Biology (BIO), Botany (BOT), Ecology (EC), Behavioral Psychology (BEH), Biochemistry (BC), Earth and Space (ES), Microbiology (MIC), Chemistry (CHM), Mathematics (MAT), Physics (PHY), Engineering (ENGR), and Zoology (ZOO).

Jacob Bianchi was awarded the Advisory Board Award. Jacob's presentation was selected as one of the top two presentations out of the nearly 400 presentations in Region 2.
Grace Hauenstein was awarded an annual scholarship to the University of Scranton.
