Women's Track & Field Posts Trio of Second Place Finishes at Mini Dip Invite

St. Rose of Lima Parish issued the following announcement on Jan. 28.

The University of Scranton women's track and field team posted a trio of second place finishes to highlight the Royals' performance at the Mini Dip Invite that was hosted by Franklin & Marshall on Friday night.

Here are some of the top performances from the Royals at the meet.

  • Senior Jessica Hoffmann (Millington, N.J./Watchung Hills) finished second in the mile with a new indoor program record time of 5:19.01, while classmates Ally Maniscalco (Deer Park, N.Y./Deer Park) took second in the pole vault with a new indoor program record mark of 2.90m and Meghan McGonigle (Mullica Hill, N.J./Gloucester Catholic) finished second in the high jump with a mark of 1.55m.
  • Junior Meghan Winter (Peckville, Pa./Valley View) finished seventh in the triple jump with a mark of 9.74m and McGonigle took 10th place in the long jump with a mark of 4.46m.
  • In the weight throw, junior Katherine Fafian (Staten Island, N.Y./Notre Dame Academy) added a 12th place finish with a personal-best toss of 12.16m.
  • The Royals' 4x400 relay team of Hoffmann, freshman Samantha Hoffmann (Long Hill, N.J./Watchung Hills), senior Megan Gorman (Staten Island, N.Y./St. Joseph Hill Academy) and sophomore Olivia Tullman (Chester Springs, Pa./The Hill School) recorded a seventh place finish in a time of 4:39.09.
Scranton returns to action at the Frank Colden Invitational that will be hosted by Ursinus College on Saturday, Feb. 5 beginning at 9 a.m.
