McKeon Leads Men's Track & Field at Mini Dip Invite

St. Rose of Lima Parish issued the following announcement on Jan. 28.

Senior Shane McKeon (Royersford, Pa./Pope John Paul II) won the mile with a personal-best time to lead the way for The University of Scranton men's track and field team at the Mini Dip Invite that was hosted by Franklin & Marshall on Friday night.

Here are some of the highlights for the Royals from Friday's meet.

  • McKeon won the mile with a personal-best time of 4:23.64, just edging Messiah's Logan Horst who finished second in 4:23.67. It is also the fastest time in the Landmark Conference this season.
  • Junior Liam Mead (Montrose, Pa./Montrose) added a seventh place finish in the mile with a time of 4:34.89.
  • Senior Luke Shannon (Rockville Centre, N.Y./South Side) took third in the 800 meters in a time of 2:00.70 and sophomore Timothy Lanahan (Mendham, N.J./Mendham) placed seventh with his own personal-best clip of 2:02.90.
  • Shannon already held the fastest time in the event in the Landmark Conference this season with a 2:01.04 effort at the SU Early Season Invite on Dec. 4.
  • Sophomore Matthew Ginnetti (Pipersville, Pa./Holy Ghost Prep) broke his own indoor program record in the pole vault with a mark of 3.20m for a 13th place finish on the evening.
The Royals return to the track on Saturday, Feb. 5 at the Frank Colden Invitational that will be hosted by Ursinus College with action getting underway at 9 a.m.
