University of Scranton Athletics issued the following announcement on Oct. 6.
Freshman Stephen Butler (Souderton, Pa./Souderton Area) fired a 72 (+1) to lead the way, as The University of Scranton men's golf team raced past Marywood, 302-328, in dual match action on Wednesday afternoon at Glenmaura National Golf Club.
With the win, Scranton is now 12-0 on the year in dual matches, as they've now won 56 straight dual matches dating back to 2017.
For Butler, his round at Glenmaura was the lowest of his short career at Scranton, as Butler nabbed medalist honors in an event for the first time this season.
Elsewhere, senior John Shaughnessy (Florida, N.Y./S.S. Seward Institute) matched his season low with a 75 (+4), while graduate student Calvin Ralph (Hillsdale, N.J./Pascack Valley) finished with a 77 (+5). Rounding out the scoring lineup for the Royals was junior Collin Ennis (Pleasant Mount, Pa./Scranton Prep), who carded a 78 (+7).
Two other players also made the trip to Glenmaura for the Royals, as junior Matthew Fleming (Richboro, Pa./Council Rock South) shot a 79, and seniorEric Odell (Honesdale, Pa./Scranton Prep) posted an 83 to finish out the line-up on the day for Scranton.
Marywood was led in the event by Francesco Pazzaglia with a 75.
The University of Scranton men's golf team returns to action on Oct. 16, as they head back to Glenmaura for the 2021 Biondi Memorial Invitational.
