University of Scranton Athletics issued the following announcement on Sept. 14.
Senior Nicholas Campanelli (Manahawkin, N.J./Southern Regional) fired a one-under par 70 to lead the way, at The University of Scranton men's golf team posted a final score of 301 to coast by King's (334) and Misericordia (356) at Wyoming Valley Country Club on Tuesday.
With the pair of victories, the Royals moved to 5-0 in dual matches for the year and extended their dual match winning streak that dates back to the 2017-18 season to 49 straight victories (Scranton's last loss occurred on Sept. 14, 2017 vs. Marywood).
Overall, Campanelli was outstanding on the afternoon for Scranton, as he set a new career low with his score of 70 (his previous low was 71, which occurred on Oct. 5, 2019 at the Landmark Conference Fall Preview). It marked the third straight match that Campanelli was the Royals' low scorer, as well.
Elsewhere, junior Ethan Zawatski (Dallas, Pa./Dallas) finished with a solid round of 73 (+2), while graduate student Calvin Ralph (Hillsdale, N.J./Pascack Valley) ended the afternoon with a score of 78. Rounding out the line-up for Scranton was freshman Danny Harding (Vestal, N.Y./Vestal), who carded an 80, and sophomore Martin Stivala (Dunmore, Pa./Scranton Prep) who finished with an 86.
The University of Scranton men's golf team returns to action on Saturday, heading to Frost Valley Country Club in Danville to take on Bloomsburg. Things get underway at 12 p.m.
