Lackawanna College issued the following announcement on Nov. 23.
Lackawanna College’s student-run restaurant, 409 on Adams, has launched its new online store. The Marketplace at 409 on Adams sells professional quality merchandise, culinary and pastry creations and a line of pet treats produced by students. The e-commerce store also serves as a place to find recipes and cooking tips from the restaurant’s faculty and student chefs, current food trends and restaurant news.
“This is not your average marketplace,” said Susan C. Markovich, Special Programs Coordinator for the Lackawanna College School of Hospitality. “This is a unique way to bring our passion and love for hospitality, culinary and pastry arts to our community. Instructors and students can practice and perfect their craft while providing excellence in customer service and products.”
“We only market items that we use ourselves and that have our stamp of approval,” Markovich added. “It’s beyond rewarding to be able to share our love of food and hospitality in such a creative way with others while allowing our students to shine.”
Funds raised from the Marketplace at 409 on Adams help support Kiesendahl School of Hospitality scholarships along with programming and fellowship positions. The fellowship positions allow students to receive hands-on training with chef instructors in leadership roles while earning their degree.
