Education

Marywood University issued the following announcement on Aug. 19.

Marywood University is a co-educational, Catholic liberal arts university located on a 115-acre campus in Scranton, PA.

Established in 1915 by the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, the University currently enrolls more than 3,400 students in a variety of undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral programs, including architecture, art therapy, aviation, communication arts, education, music, nursing, physician assistant and speech language pathology. Undergraduates may also enroll in honors, and independent study programs, internships, and study abroad, as well as Army and Air Force ROTC programs.

Marywood presents dozens of concerts, theatrical performances, and art exhibits each year, primarily free of charge, to the public. Marywood’s regional architectural icons include the Memorial Arch and the magnificent Liberal Arts Center Rotunda, which features historic murals, polished marble floors, and a spectacular domed ceiling.

Marywood features 22 men’s and women’s varsity teams, a regular array of sporting events, camps, and clinics, and top-notch athletics facilities, including the Aquatics Center, a Turf Field, grass field, tennis courts, and more.

Known far and wide for its beautiful campus, Marywood University is a national arboretum that features over 100 species of trees, shrubs, and flowers. Visitors can enjoy the signature tulips that change every spring; memorial gardens and quiet areas for reflection; green spaces for pick-up games of flag football or frisbee; a new Amphitheatre with natural-tiered seating for outdoor entertainment; and walking, jogging, and running paths for students and neighbors.

With so much to offer, Marywood deserves to be a stop on your itinerary!
