Cost of college went up for all students at the Fortis Institute-Scranton

Tuition and fees rose 5.7 percent for 2018-19 at the Fortis Institute-Scranton, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

Pennsylvania students paid $28,802 to attend the two-year private for-profit institution this year – $1,556 more than the $27,246 charged for 2017-18.

Data shows 97 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 27 students received grants or scholarships totaling $154,069 and 26 students took out student loans totaling more than $219,169.

Including all undergraduates (288), 244 students used grants or scholarships totaling $1.6 million, and 205 students took out $1.6 million in federal student loans.
