MARYWOOD UNIVERSITY: Profile in Passion - Cody Reese

Announcement

Marywood University issued the following announcement on April 3.

Cody Reese was first drawn to Marywood because of the baseball team. After playing in a summer league with Marywood's pitching coach, Richard Clifford, Cody decided to visit the campus. Marywood had everything he wanted: a business program, a strong baseball team, and a college experience that wasn’t too far from home.

As soon as Cody stepped foot onto Marywood’s campus, he was sold. He found the business department exceptional and the campus beautiful. On the day of his tour, he was excited to meet Chris Speicher, Ph.D., associate professor of marketing and entrepreneurship in the University’s School of Business and Global Innovation. The night before Cody’s visit, he saw Dr. Speicher’s daughter on the TV show, Shark Tank. All of this factored into his excitement and passion for Marywood as a top contender for his college experience. Then, he saw the impressive financial package, and he was sold. He felt it was a total “God thing”.

Now, Cody is a sophomore with a double major in business management and marketing in Marywood’s School of Business and Global Innovation, as well as a second-year pitcher for Marywood’s baseball team. In addition to playing on the baseball team, Cody also is active in the National Society of Leadership & Success; a member of the Aviators’ Club; working on his private pilot’s license; and works alongside his father at their family business, Reese Tower Services.

Prior to coming to Marywood, Cody played baseball for the Hazleton Area Cougars. Although Cody was home-schooled, he was eligible to play sports for his hometown high school. Cody was the starting pitcher for the Hazleton Area Cougars during his senior year; was named All-Conference pitcher for the Wyoming Valley Conference; and participated in the Field of Dreams All-Star Game.

Although no one wants to leave Marywood, especially Cody, he’s excited to continue to work alongside his father after graduation in their family business, Reese Tower Services. Cody’s role at the family business will continue to include flying drones, sales, and marketing.
