Congressman Rob Bresnahan Jr., who serves as a member of the U.S. House Agriculture Committee, marked several national observances in recent social media posts, recognizing the contributions of farmers, the Italian-American community, and the U.S. Navy.
On October 12, 2025, Bresnahan acknowledged National Farmers Day, stating: “On National Farmers Day, I honor the hardworking farmers who feed our nation. As a member of the Agriculture Committee, I’m dedicated to supporting policies that strengthen farming communities and ensure a sustainable future for American agriculture.” Bresnahan’s role on the Agriculture Committee positions him to influence legislation impacting rural economies and food production systems across the United States.
The following day, October 13, 2025, Bresnahan posted about Columbus Day: “On this Columbus Day, we honor the exploration and contributions of not only Christopher Columbus to our nation’s history, but also those of the Italian-American community here in Northeastern Pennsylvania.” His message highlighted both the historical figure of Columbus and the local Italian-American community in his district.
Later on October 13, Bresnahan commemorated the U.S. Navy’s milestone anniversary: “Happy 250th Birthday to the U.S. Navy! For two and a half centuries, our sailors have defended our nation and protected freedom around the world. Thank you to all who serve with courage and dedication. Proud to honor your service today and every day.”
Columbus Day is a federal holiday in the United States observed on the second Monday of October each year, commemorating Christopher Columbus’s landing in the Americas in 1492. The U.S. Navy was established on October 13, 1775, making 2025 its 250th anniversary.
