Congressman Rob Bresnahan Jr. marked Labor Day and Victory over Japan Day with a series of posts on his social media account, focusing on the contributions of workers in Northeastern Pennsylvania and honoring military service members.
On September 1, 2025, Bresnahan posted: “Happy Labor Day! From growing up here to working in the family business, I know Northeastern Pennsylvania was built by hardworking men and women. Today we honor that legacy and the workers who keep our communities moving forward.”
The following day, he recognized the anniversary of Victory over Japan Day, stating: “Today we recognize Victory over Japan and honor the brave men and women who helped bring World War II to an end. Thank you to all who served. “ This commemoration marks the official end of World War II, which concluded when Japan formally surrendered on September 2, 1945.
Later on September 2, Bresnahan addressed economic issues facing local workers: “Our region has always been powered by blue-collar workers. Raising the minimum wage honors that legacy by making sure every worker earns a fair day’s pay for a hard day’s work and that the next generation can build a life right here at home.” Calls to raise the minimum wage have been ongoing at both state and federal levels as policymakers debate how best to support working families amid rising costs of living.
Labor Day is observed annually in the United States on the first Monday in September as a tribute to American workers’ achievements and contributions. The recognition of Victory over Japan Day reflects continued efforts by public officials like Bresnahan to acknowledge significant historical milestones alongside current policy discussions affecting their constituencies.
