Congressman Rob Bresnahan Jr. used his social media platform to comment on the ongoing government shutdown and to honor veterans. In a series of posts from November 10 and 11, 2025, Bresnahan described both his community engagement efforts and his stance on recent developments in Congress.
On November 10, Bresnahan posted about participating in a local food bank initiative during the shutdown. He wrote, “Amid the government shutdown, my team and I donated food and packed boxes at the Weinberg Northeast Regional Food Bank in Pittston. We’re grateful for their staff & volunteers, and we’re proud to help keep neighbors and their families fed.”
Later that evening, he commented on legislative negotiations in Washington: “After 41 days, a handful of Senate Democrats have finally come to their senses and stopped holding the American people hostage. Now it’s time to get the government open and working for the people again.”
On November 11, which marks Veterans Day in the United States, Bresnahan posted a message of gratitude: “Today, we honor all who have served. Thank you to our veterans for your courage, sacrifice, and dedication to protecting our nation. Your service inspires us and reminds us of the freedoms we enjoy every day.”
The posts come during a period when Congress faced a protracted impasse leading to a partial government shutdown that lasted over forty days. Such shutdowns occur when lawmakers fail to agree on appropriations legislation needed to fund federal agencies and operations.
Bresnahan represents his district in Pennsylvania’s U.S. House delegation.
