Men’s and Women’s Swimming & Diving Teams Garner CSCAA Scholar All-America Team Honors

The University of Scranton men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams have garnered College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association (CSCAA) NCAA Division III Scholar All-America team honors for the Spring 2022 semester as announced by the organization this week.

A total of 731 teams from 441 institutions earned CSCAA Scholar All-America accolades as the men’s team posted a cumulative 3.12 GPA, while the women’s team held a cumulative 3.37 GPA.

CSCAA Executive Director Greg Earhart added “Head Coach [Chris] Brown understands the values of training the complete student-athlete and that is evident by the team’s success in the classroom.”

In the pool, both the men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams registered top-five finishes at the Landmark Conference Championships. On the women’s side, graduate student Lauren Byrne (Cranford, N.J./Cranford) was named Swimmer of the Year for the third time in her career and junior Jeanna Gailius (Milton, Mass./Ursuline Academy) notched Diver of the Year honors for a third consecutive year.

Founded in 1922, the CSCAA is the nation’s first organization of college coaches. The mission of the CSCAA is to advance the sport of swimming and diving with coaches at the epicenter of leadership, advocacy, and professional development.
