Lackawanna County Commissioners Announce Funding For 27 Community Re-Invest Projects

Twenty-seven projects, focusing on youth recreation, public safety, building upgrades, technology, civic events, and general renovations/expansions, were approved for funding by the Lackawanna County Commissioners through their Community Re-Invest Program totaling $132,172.   The public-private partnership investment for 2022 is $3,173,719.                               

                The Community Re-Invest Program was established in July of 2013.  It represents the “last mile” funding to help bring the initiatives to fruition.  The overall public-private investment since its inception is $20,406,588.                                        

                The projects that were approved for the initial round of funding for 2022 include:

COVINGTON INDEPENDENT VOLUNTEER FIRE COMPANY

        Project Description: Infrastructure update of the interior lighting.  

        Total Project Cost: $11,327                                         

       Amount from CRP Program: $5,000

SOUTH ABINGTON TOWNSHIP

Project Description: Hand-held/Portable radios for Police Officers.

Total Project Cost: $10,146

        EYNON CHRISTMAS LIGHT COMMITTEE

        Project Description: Sturges Christmas Lights 2022 Phase.

        Total Project Cost: $5,000

        Project Description: Apparatus bay floor refinish.

Project Description: Mayfield recreation area and trail project.

Project Description: Second Annual Downtown Dalton Flower Basket Campaign.

        Total Project Cost: $6,955                                            

       Amount from CRP Program: $5,000

Projects will continue to be reviewed and funded into the Fall of 2022.  Boroughs, municipalities, townships, and nonprofit entities are encouraged to submit applications for projects that are “ready to start” so that the Community Re-Invest Program can help to successfully complete them.
