Last week, U.S. Representative Rob Bresnahan, Jr. (PA-08) held a telephone town hall to inform residents of Pennsylvania’s Eighth Congressional District about the ongoing government shutdown. The event drew participation from more than 15,000 constituents who sought information on how the shutdown might impact their daily lives and available resources for assistance.
During the call, Rep. Bresnahan addressed concerns regarding delayed services and missed paychecks for federal workers in the district. He stated, “This shutdown means delayed services, missed paychecks, and growing uncertainty, especially for the over 10,000 federal workers in our district who are reporting to work without pay.” He added, “Let me be clear: I voted to keep the government open and protect essential services for working families, seniors, and veterans. I will continue to advocate for Northeastern Pennsylvania, and our team will continue to do all we can to help those affected by the shutdown.”
Rep. Bresnahan also updated listeners on the progress of negotiations in Washington and responded to questions about Social Security, veterans’ benefits, military impacts, and which services remain operational during the shutdown. He emphasized that both his Washington, D.C., and district offices are fully open to assist constituents during this period.
Further guidance is provided on Rep. Bresnahan’s website, offering information relevant to federal employees, seniors, veterans, travelers, and answers to frequently asked questions regarding service availability during the shutdown.
